Scott R. Peppet
is an associate professor of law at
the University of Colorado School of Law in Boulder, Colorado, where he
specializes in legal ethics and alternative dispute resolution and
negotiation. He is the coauthor of Beyond Winning: Negotiating to Create
Value in Deals and Disputes (2000, with Mnookin and Tulumello), which
received the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution Award for best new book
in 2000. He has also authored various articles on legal negotiation and
dispute resolution. These include “Lawyers’ Bargaining Ethics, Contract,
and Collaboration: The End of the Legal Profession and the Beginning of
Professional Pluralism” (Iowa Law Review, 2005); “Contract Formation in
Imperfect Markets: Should We Use Mediators in Deals?” (Ohio State Journal
on Dispute Resolution, 2004); and “Contractarian Economics and Mediation
Ethics: The Case for Contingent Fee Mediation” (Texas Law Review, 2003).
