Lawrence E.Susskind is Ford Professor of Urban and Environmental Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he has taught for more than thirty years. He is also visiting professor of law at Harvard Law School, where he helped to found the Program on Negotiation. In 1993, Susskind created the Consensus Building Institute, a not-for-profit provider of mediation and dispute resolution services. Through CBI (www.cbuilding.org) he has helped to mediate more than fifty complex disputes around the world. Susskind is coauthor of the award-winning Consensus Building Handbook (1999), as well as thirteen other books.
